Our Safety Policy
At Cypress Security we are as heavily concerned about the protection of your property as we are about the safety of our guards on your site. We ensure each guard is equipped with the necessary training and tools to keep your property protected as well as keeping them safe while on shift.
Safety for our Guards
High-Visibility Vest
Each guard is provided with a customized Cypress Security reflective vest to alert others of the guards presence and to ensure safety of the guard in the dark or low visibility areas.
Steel-Toe Shoes
On sites where hazardous materials or construction is present, the guard must wear steel-toe shoes.
Flashlight
All guards carry a high powered flashlight for all low visibility areas and times.
GPS Device
Our guards come with a GPS tracking device that included a panic button. In case of emergenc our monitoring centre is alerted and immediate assistance is dispatched.
Hard Hat
Hard hats are required for all guards on construction sites and available upon request.
Marked Clothing
All of our guards are professionally uniformed with our custom high visibility Cypress uniforms. We can also cater our uniforms to suit your requirements for concierge or construction sites.
Reporting
Our guards are required to observe, record and report all they see. Reports are reviewed by on site supervisors and GPS on Guard equipped reporting is accessible to our clients from anywhere in the world.
Mobile Phone
Our guards are required to carry a mobile phone so they are prepared to quickly respond in an emergency situation.
Facility Emergency Response plan
We take the time to train our security guards on each site to develop an emergency response plan and to conduct a risk assessment to identify potential emergency scenarios. An understanding of what can happen will allow the guard to determine resource requirements and to develop plans and procedures to prepare your business. The actions taken in the initial minutes of an emergency are critical. A prompt warning to employees to evacuate, shelter or lockdown can save lives.
Site Standing Order
Each Site has its own standing order which is placed on-site. Our guards have access to information provided by the clients, such as the sites emergency contact and after-hours contact. This also includes information on the whereabouts of emergency equipment such as backup generators, first-aid kits, fire alarms, hydrants and extinguishers. The guard is also made aware of the best route to follow in an emergency situation, such as a fire, explosion, or chemical leak.
WHMIS
Cypress Security makes it mandatory for the guards to have the knowledge and skills to protect their health in the workplace. Our guards may not work directly with hazardous materials but may be exposed to them at work, Our guards are familiar with the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System symbols and know how to respond to hazardous situations.
